|Jan. 2, 2018 2:25 PM PT3:25 PM MT4:25 PM CT5:25 PM ET22:25 GMT6:25 3:25 PM MST5:25 PM EST4:25 PM CT2:25 UAE (+1)17:25 ETNaN: - Palmer announced his retirement after 15 NFL seasons in an open letter released Tuesday by the Cardinals. Palmer, who turned 38 last week, missed the last nine games of what would be his final season with a broken left arm. He called his long professional career "the most incredible experience of my life."
Analysis: Palmer was a Heisman Trophy winner at USC and the No. 1 overall pick by Cincinnati in 2002. He threw for 46,247 yards, 12th-most in NFL history, in a career with the Bengals, Oakland and Arizona. Acquired by the Cardinals for only a sixth-round pick and a swap of seventh-rounders, Palmer had some of his greatest success in Arizona. In 2015, he set single-season franchise records for yards passing (4,671) and touchdowns (35) while leading the Cardinals to a 13-3 record.
|Oct. 22, 2017 12:59 PM PT1:59 PM MT2:59 PM CT3:59 PM ET19:59 GMT3:59 12:59 PM MST2:59 PM EST2:59 PM CT23:59 UAE15:59 ETNaN: - Palmer isn't expected to return this season after all. He was placed on injured reserve due to a broken left arm suffered in the Week 7 loss to the Rams, meaning the earliest he would be eligible to play again is Week 16, but Arizona won't risk it.
Analysis: Drew Stanton becomes the full-time starter in Arizona, meaning all offensive players in Arizona likely take a hit to their fantasy value.
|Oct. 15, 2017 4:54 PM PT5:54 PM MT6:54 PM CT7:54 PM ET23:54 GMT7:54 4:54 PM MST6:54 PM EST6:54 PM CT3:54 UAE (+1)19:54 ETNaN: - Carson Palmer was 18 of 22 for 283 yards and threw three touchdown passes Sunday in the Arizona Cardinals' 38-33 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He threw one interception, didn't fumble and was sacked two times.
Analysis: Palmer was very efficient, completing 81.8 percent of his passes with a season-high three touchdowns. He was 6 for 6 when targeting Larry Fitzgerald on deep passes. Surely, Palmer was helped by Adrian Peterson's monster debut and an effective run game should only help the passing attack get better.
|Oct. 8, 2017 4:03 PM PT5:03 PM MT6:03 PM CT7:03 PM ET23:03 GMT7:03 4:03 PM MST6:03 PM EST6:03 PM CT3:03 UAE (+1)19:03 ETNaN: - Carson Palmer was 28 of 44 for 291 yards and threw one touchdown pass Sunday in the Arizona Cardinals' 34-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He did not throw an interception, didn't fumble and was sacked two times.
Analysis: Palmer came up just short of a fourth straight game of hitting the 300-yard mark and had another active day as the Cardinals' rushing attack was once again virtually non-existent. The grizzled veteran is averaging a whopping 45.4 passing attempts through Arizona's first five games, so the opportunity is there for him to continue putting up solid fantasy numbers.
|Oct. 1, 2017 4:59 PM PT5:59 PM MT6:59 PM CT7:59 PM ET23:59 GMT7:59 4:59 PM MST6:59 PM EST6:59 PM CT3:59 UAE (+1)19:59 ETNaN: - Carson Palmer was 33 of 51 for 357 yards and threw one touchdown pass Sunday in the Arizona Cardinals' 18-15 win over the San Francisco 49ers. He threw one interception, didn't fumble and was sacked six times. Palmer added one rushing yard on two carries.
Analysis: Palmer was again under siege as he was sacked seven times, four in the fourth quarter and once in OT. He was sacked six times last week. That kind of beating would take a toll on any quarterback and Palmer is one of the league's oldest at 37. He did throw for over 300 yards in his third straight game and has been extremely busy with 183 pass attempts through four games.
|Sep. 25, 2017 8:28 PM PT9:28 PM MT10:28 PM CT11:28 PM ET3:28 GMT11:28 8:28 PM MST10:28 PM EST10:28 PM CT7:28 UAE (+1)23:28 ETNaN: - Carson Palmer was 29 of 48 for 325 yards and threw two touchdown passes Monday in the Arizona Cardinals' 28-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He did not throw an interception, didn't fumble and was sacked six times. Palmer added seven rushing yards on three carries.
Analysis: After turning in a Week 1 dud, Palmer showed he's still got something left by delivering a second straight 300-yard performance. The 37-year-old was a razor-sharp 15-of-18 for 145 yards in the first half, but his effectiveness did wane while under heavy pressure throughout the final two quarters. With a 102.9 rating, seven touchdowns and no interceptions over his last three home starts, he could be worth using as a streamer against the visiting 49ers next week.
|Sep. 17, 2017 2:34 PM PT3:34 PM MT4:34 PM CT5:34 PM ET21:34 GMT5:34 2:34 PM MST4:34 PM EST4:34 PM CT1:34 UAE (+1)17:34 ETNaN: - Carson Palmer was 19 of 36 for 332 yards and threw one touchdown pass Sunday in the Arizona Cardinals' 16-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He threw one interception, didn't fumble and was sacked four times. Palmer added six rushing yards on three carries.
Analysis: Palmer seemed to be out of sync with his receivers most of the day, but made just enough plays in the final eight minutes of regulation to give the Cardinals a chance. "The quarterback has to play better. It's that simple," coach Bruce Arians said.
|Sep. 10, 2017 5:06 PM PT6:06 PM MT7:06 PM CT8:06 PM ET0:06 GMT8:06 5:06 PM MST7:06 PM EST7:06 PM CT4:06 UAE (+1)20:06 ETNaN: - Palmer was intercepted three times in the Cardinals' 35-23 Week 1 loss at Detroit. The 37-year-old finished the game with 269 passing yards and a touchdown while completing 27 of 48 attempts.
Analysis: Palmer looked past his prime at times last season, and did little to dispel that belief with a highly shaky performance against a defense that allowed the highest quarterback rating in the league in 2016. He's probably still a serviceable bye-week fill-in, but his days as a fantasy starting QB may be done.
|Aug. 13, 2017 10:09 AM PT11:09 AM MT12:09 PM CT1:09 PM ET17:09 GMT1:09 10:09 AM MST12:09 PM EST12:09 PM CT21:09 UAE13:09 ETNaN: - Palmer was 4 of 8 for 38 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown to Brittan Golden, in his preseason debut Saturday in a win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Palmer, at age 37 beginning his 15th NFL season, would have liked to have played more than one series after sitting out the Hall of Fame game."I thought I was going to get the first quarter," Palmer said. "That's what (coach Bruce Arians) said last night at the team meeting. I missed a couple. I missed a long one to Jaron (Brown) and wanted to kind of redeem myself. I didn't get that chance. I've got to wait until next week."
|Feb. 9, 2017 12:02 PM PT1:02 PM MT2:02 PM CT3:02 PM ET20:02 GMT4:02 1:02 PM MST3:02 PM EST2:02 PM CT0:02 UAE (+1)15:02 ETNaN: - Palmer is coming back for a 15th NFL season. The 37-year-old quarterback said in a statement he is "ready to get back to work and prepare for the 2017 season.
Analysis: There had been speculation about Palmer and receiver Larry Fitzgerald for next season. Fitzgerald said last week he was returning.
